Registration Options
The following registration options are available for the WDPI Conference:
Standard Conference Registration
- Full access to all conference talks and training activities
- Coffee breaks and lunches during the conference program
- Optional attendance at the Conference Workshops on May 12, 2026 (Click here to see all workshop details)
- Welcome Reception at the Museum of Anthropology on May 12, 2026
- Trainee and Early Career Networking Event on May 13, 2026 (evening)
- Conference Banquet at Jack Poole Hall on May 14, 2026
- Please note:
- Effective April 10, 2026, we will no longer issue Letters of Invitation. Due to the length of UBC and IRCC vetting timelines, any LOI requests submitted after April 10 will not be processed. Refunds for refusal of LoI requests, less a $50 administrative fee, are available until April 21, 2026. No refunds will be provided after this deadline
- Postdoctoral scholars are not eligible for the student pricing
- Registrations are for individual use only and cannot be shared
- Substitutions are possible. In the event you cannot attend , please email registration@housing.ubc.ca by May 4th and confirm the name of the individual who will replace you at the conference. No refunds will be made for substitutions
- We reserve the right to verify the identity and professional background of all registrants. If a registrant cannot prove their affiliation with the conference topic or demonstrate a legitimate professional interest in attending, we reserve the right to cancel their registration
One-Day Registration
- Delegates can opt to attend any of the following days: May 13, 14, or 15
- One-Day Registration on May 13 includes access to the Trainee and Early Career event, if the delegate is a student, postdoctoral fellow, or early career researcher
- One-Day Registration on May 14 does not include access to the conference banquet
- Delegates can select a One-Day Registration and one or two Workshop registration(s)
Workshop Pass
- Delegates can choose to attend any of the Conference Workshops on May 12, 2026 (Click here to see all workshop details)

Cancellation Policy: Registration cancellations must be submitted in writing by email to registration@housing.ubc.ca. Cancellations received on or before February 19, 2026 are eligible for a 100% refund, minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received between February 20 and March 19, 2026 are eligible for a 50% refund, minus a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after March 20, 2026. Refund requests may take up to 10 business days to process.
Visa-related Cancellations: In cases where attendance is not possible due to visa denial or processing delays, delegates will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee upon submission of official documentation from the relevant embassy or consulate, as long as documentation is received by April 21, 2026. If you require information regarding attaining a Visa for the conference, more details may be found here.
Registrants (non-presenters)Â requiring a Letter of Invitation are required to provide additional details found here. Due to extended vetting timelines with UBC and IRCC, the WDPI organizing committee will stop accepting new LOI requests after April 10, 2026. Registrations submitted after this date will not be eligible for an LOI. Refunds for refusal of LoI requests, less a $50 administrative fee, are available until April 21, 2026. No refunds will be provided after this deadline.
Conference Registration Terms & Conditions – Fraud/Misrepresentation: The organizers reserve the right to refuse or cancel any registration, with or without notice, at their absolute discretion. No refunds will be provided to participants found to have misrepresented themselves, used false information, or engaged in fraudulent activity, including the submission of fake or misleading information to obtain a visa invitation letter. Furthermore, such individuals may be reported to the relevant immigration authorities.
Non-Refundable Registrations: No refund will be provided if a letter of invitation was used for fraudulent purposes or if the applicant is suspected of misrepresenting their intent to travel.

International delegates and presenters requiring a Letter of Invitation to attend this meeting should email registration@housing.ubc.ca.
